A Little History...
I'm an art director / illustrator and love a challenge. Several years ago, I had an assignment to scan and "colorize" some existing line art. The client actually wanted the art to be repainted! With a short deadline, and knowing they didn't want slick stripped in color, I tried a new technique.
I created ten watercolor textures, scanned them and dropped them into the original line art. With some additional manipulation in Photoshop, I created the rich look the job required. I was impressed, and so was the client.
Knowing I'd use this technique again and again, I continued to create additional backgrounds. With the help of my wife Maggie Swanson, who is also an illustrator, we created ninety diverse watercolors and months later Watercolor Backgrounds for Photoshop was born. Since 1999, we've continued with our quest to create unique backgrounds. Have a look around and have fun next time you're working with Photoshop.
